A shareholder and director of Buffamante Whipple Buttafaro, David DiTanna, CPA, CIA, CGFM, manages the firm’s auditing, accounting and consulting for school districts, non-profit organizations, rural electric cooperatives and governmental entities. He is responsible for presenting independent audit reports to the board of directors for non-profit organizations and boards of education for school districts and also consults with many boards on their strategic financial plans.

In 2002, Buffalo Business First listed Dave as a “40 Under 40.” A graduate of St. Bonaventure University, Dave has also earned the designations of Certified Government Financial Manager and Certified Internal Auditor. He is a member of a number of professional associations including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New York State of Certified Public Accountants and the New York and Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials, the Institute of Internal Auditors and the Institute of Management Accountants. He is also serves as treasurer on the board of directors for the Olean General Hospital and Leadership Cattaraugus.

Describe your first car and what you loved or disliked most about it. 1985 burgundy Ford Escort convertible (not quite a convertible, it had a removable sunroof).

A graduate of The Ohio State University, Michael Staley, CPA, CFE, CPCU, holds more than 30 years of experience as an auditor and business consultant.  A shareholder and director in the assurance services department at Buffamante Whipple Buttafaro, P.C., with significant involvement with insurance industry clients, Mike helps clients to rest easy by helping them to resolve regulatory and competitive challenges.

In addition, Mike prepares financial projections, corporate income tax returns and pension plan audits. His scope of engagements also includes consolidations, various management consulting projects and merger and acquisition support. A notable audit consultant, Mike helps business leaders identify best practices for enhancing efficiencies and internal controls, mitigating fraud risks, improving corporate governance and implementing statutory accounting principles.

Having come a long way since driving his first car—a stick-shift Dodge Dart Sport with no air conditioning - Mike devotes a substantial amount of time to professional and civic activities. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New York Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, CPCU Society, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and a member of the New York, Pennsylvania and West Virginia Associations of Mutual Insurance Companies.

Mike is chairperson of the finance committee of the St. Mary of the Angels parish festival and a member of The Ohio State University Alumni Association. He is also a member, and the former treasurer, for the Kiwanis Club of Olean and a member on the board of directors and treasurer for the First Church of God, former treasurer for the Genesis House homeless shelter, former member for the finance committee of the Pennsylvania Land Title Association.

What’s your favorite sports team and how far will you go to show your support? The Ohio State University football team. I would be willing to paint the Ohio State logo on my garage door.

Helping to navigate the financial success of BWB’s clients, Lee also prepares compiled and reviewed financial statements and helps businesses and individuals with tax planning and projections.

After receiving a nod as Most Athletic in high school, Lee leveraged his well-roundedness by earning his Bachelor’s in Accounting with a minor in Economics at the State University of New York College at Fredonia. Holding more than 23 years of experience in the accounting industry, Lee helps BWB clients to stay current with industry trends through his memberships with the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

A shareholder and director of Buffamante Whipple Buttafaro, P.C., Thomas Buffamante, CPA is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and has practiced in public accounting continuously since that time. With a diverse background that reflects knowledge in the areas of accounting, taxation and consulting, Tom’s strengths are primarily in the areas of individual tax planning, estate planning, business and personal financial planning.

 

Tom’s professional memberships include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is the Chairman of the Board of the Cattaraugus County IDA, and Board Member and Finance Audit and Compliance Committee Member of the Upper Allegheny Health System.

 

An avid golfer, Tom is a long-time member of the Bartlett Country Club and member and treasurer of Elkdale Country Club. It’s no wonder Tom’s No. 1 bucket list item is to hit the links one day in Scotland and Ireland.
